Inspite of being the pretty
looking town, Tuscany
has a pricey reputation. You can just empty out your wallets on luxury villas,
hotel suites, cars, shop till you drop at the glamorous boutiques, eat a
4-course meal and make your way up the towering structures.
With Florence city breaks it's just great to do
all this, just too great!
That’s not the only way to see Tuscany . There are
cheaper and economical ways and alternatives that do not need to be off-track
or even bang your head on the wall to search for such gems and other budget
travel clichés.
Take pleasure in the amazing
jewels located in the city as everyone else, maybe through a different angle.
For such pleasure, you may need to turn-down service, overlook the Frette
linens and even shift the pound and euro exchange rates with a small help.
The city of Florence makes a good base for the price
conscious though the city has been separating the tourists from squandering
money. Hotels and restaurants are plentiful and one can just walk around
everywhere and anywhere in the region's hub
Accommodation in the centre isn’t
quite cheap. The favourite of much of the tourists are Locanda Orchidea where
you can get a serene, traditional room overlooking the leafy courtyard
If you wish to visit the city in
the month of August, you need to keep in mind that trying haggling at a higher
price category. The climate is steamy deserted, so the deals crafted are
plentiful.
For some luscious food, steer
towards the streets between Piazza della Signoria and Plazza del Duomo. The
place may look rowdy but the menu is short, tasty and cheap. The South-west
center is still walkable and friendlier.
Celebrate a birthday or
anniversary at the Uffizi and Academia that costs anything between €11-15 and
win a discount card. With food you can witness amazing art for nothing in
several of the city churches. The city is blessed with multiple versions of the
Last Supper by Ghirlandaio. The views from the steps outside San Miniato are
quite better than any city where you pay for viewing.
For shopping you just skip the
Ferragamos and Guccis in favor of the indie stores that lies along Borgo degil
Albizi. With short breaks Florence
you may poke around the flea market in Plazza dei Ciompi and pick up a fistful
of prismatic postcards and some fine-looking jewelry for under €10.
If you have eaten well at lunch,
gearing up on aperitivo should be enough for dinner. The game is
straightforward: a buffet piled high with hearty salads and simple dishes.
Drink slow and eat to your heart’s content.
